LEAF September 2023 Fun Fly Results

Members,

The LEAF Fun Fly on September 09 was awesome! We can not thank our members, their families and friends enough. Thank you for taking the time out of your weekend to come and support our club for the great day we had. The weather was perfect. We had lot’s of cool items for sale for charity that were donated by our great members. We also had many items that were donated by the family of our recently passed friend and member John Stucky. Most all of our sale items were purchased! Everyone knew a good deal when they saw it.

Because of our fantastic members who attended and their families and friends we were able to collect $1500 towards our charity!!  WOW! That ranks up there among the highest Fun Fly event collections for charity LEAF has had. And it’s only because of our members, their families and friends who attended this great time we had. The best part of all was the amount of young people who attended this year. We have never seen so many kids having a great time flying and catching the parachutes being dropped. Many comments were made about the amount of young people we had at the event this year. We were glad to have them and we are sure we will be seeing many of them coming back to fly again. It’s amazing to see how good the young kids can fly. Kind of makes those of us who have been flying for years roll our eyes wishing we could..

A big thanks goes out to those club members who put a big effort in before the event. These people donated a lot of time and trouble with things like getting the training equipment ready for guests to fly. Instructors who instructed. Putting together the auction items and organizing it all. The cooks for all those hungry people and all the field maintenance that was done to get the field ready for the event. Your efforts are amazing it’s what made the day what it was, a total success. It would not have been possible without you.

At our next club meeting we will discuss options for the local charity we will donate to, since it hasn’t been decided yet. We will take a handful of local charities and put it out for a club vote. We use local charities because we want to keep in within our community to give back to the surrounding area, and because the city of Longmont gives us this land we use to fly on. There are plenty of local charities to consider. So think about it and bring them to the next club meeting on Tuesday, 6pm September 19th at the field. If you didn’t attend and you want to make a donation, there’s still time! Let someone know.

We give our thanks to all of you, your friends and families who made it a great day!
