(LEAF) came about by people in the community wanting to have a safe and legal place to fly in the local area. Most communities do not allow you to fly RC airplanes and similar models in their local parks and community open land.  LEAF has a dedicated location setup up with a runway, FPV drone and helicopter dedicated flying area, Pilot pit area, Sun shelter, Solar powered battery charging stations, restroom, vehicle parking and visitors viewing area. LEAF is dedicated to the safe flying of RC airborne devices.  Over the past years the club has grown to be one of the largest RC flying clubs in the state of Colorado and becoming the only pure electric flying site in the state of Colorado.  The field is conveniently located just south east of Union Reservoir off of County Road 26.

LEAF supports the growing sport of FPV drone racing. We have a dedicated field for FPV drone racing with a track for its members to practice. Our members can easily change the course to constantly challenge the flyer.  The FPV flying field is separate from the airplane field, keeping everyone happy and safe. 

LEAF members meet monthly at the Longmont Hobbytown store or the field during summer months.

The second Saturday of the months of May thru September, we offer ‘Open to the Public Intro lessons’.  A great way to get a taste of this exciting sport at no cost.  See our website for details.
