My Last LEAF Email

Hello Members,

As 2019 comes to a close we would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Holiday Season. It has been another good year for our club, it’s members and our community. And it’s because of all of you who make this club what it is.

I would like to thank everyone for being a member and please continue to support LEAF when you can. Please renew your memberships soon.

I have enjoyed the opportunity to serve as President for the past two years. I have learned a lot. More than I thought I ever would. There are so many of you who need thanks for what you have done over the years. This board would have never succeeded without you all. We are fortunate to have new 2020 officers stepping into the club and a few officers remaining. As you know, Neil Schmoker, Rick Suppe and Janice Johnson have volunteered their services for President, Vice-President and Secretary / Treasurer respectively. Bill Miles, Dave Hoag and John Stucky are remaining as Safety Officer, At-Large board members respectively. Many thanks to these members for stepping up to fill the needs of the club. I know you will support them just as much and more in the coming years. We have some exciting times ahead and things will continue to get better. We have a strong board and a strong membership.

I know we are all itching to fly. The winter time is really hard on us who can’t fly. But soon enough the weather will clear and we will all be out there wrecking planes again. Can’t wait, me either. I’m sure there will be quite a few new planes come springtime. And a bunch of repaired ones from last year. Please remember we will be having our annual NEW YEARS DAY fly on January 01st at the field. LEAF will supply the hot chocolate and donuts!! Bring your blankets and heaters and whatever else you may need. Hopefully the weather will cooperate. (ha) We will begin about 11AM. See you there regardless of conditions. Major snow storms are an exception.. Just stop bye to say hi if you can.

In closing I would like to say this club means a lot to many of us. It has for many years. The friendships and joining of mutual interests that go on at the field and Roosevelt gym are something to experience for yourself. When we fly, there are no age barriers, no gender barriers, no creed barriers nor nationality barriers. We are all the same. How awesome is that. There are not many places you can experience something like that. I haven’t and I hope it never stops. I hope there are flying clubs like ours in the after-life, cause if there isn’t, I’m not going.

Thank you all !

Mark Faivre
