First LEAF Fun Fly 2019 SUCCESS

Our first Fun Fly at LEAF was a total success. Not only was it a total success it was the best turnout and CHARITY drive this club has seen to date. Between the AT-6 raffle ride drive and the donations we received at the Fun Fly, we collected $1,305.00 for Meals On Wheels!             Once Again, Simply Outstanding!  Member Corky Khan is the winner of the AT6 ride!

The weather was great, and the warbird display was incredible. There were all kinds of planes, jet’s, gliders, warbird galore, helicopters and homemade planes flying all day. We had Longmont Public Television filming most of the day. Thanks to everyone who talked on camera when asked. We appreciate your willingness to help our club make a short film on what we do! The food was also mighty fine. Thanks to all who brought something to share. There was PLENTY!.

We also had some of the wonderful ‘Meals on Wheels’ folks attend the show. We were delighted they were not only able to attend but were excited about our Fun Fly for Charity. We would like to invite them back for our May club meeting and present the check to them in person. Yes, we did get them up for a flight too and they loved it, of course..

The field was in perfect condition and looked great thanks to the help of 45 of our members and other volunteers who showed up last week to help clean up. We can’t thank you enough. It was obvious to everyone the field looked manicured. The runway had also been stretched and patched. (We noticed the Advil stock went up the next day..)

One of the most noticeable things of the day was how many new faces we saw along with the regulars. It’s good to know the club continues to thrive and can attract new members from all around. The young and not so young. Male and female. And what’s even better is to see everyone enjoying this great hobby and having FUN. Just what a fun club should do.

While we never seem to get tired of saying it, we hope you don’t get tired of hearing it but it’s the active members of this club who make it what it is. As most of you can tell when you’re at the field or indoor fly’s, it’s the camaraderie and laughter that makes it what it is no matter what your skill level. Just ask anyone you see in our club. We think LEAF is really stands for Laughter Enjoyment And Fun too.

There are a few members who need to be mentioned. We don’t usually name names but these guys are awesome. Many of whom are doing work behind the scenes and it goes unnoticed. Please forgive us if we missed someone. First of all thanks to member Ron Hall who lined us up with the AT6 Texan ride for Charity. We couldn’t have done it without you. Please thank every club official/board members Steve Hood, Dave Hoag, Bill Miles John ‘Stuck’ Stucky and Ron Meisier because they are doing things for this club no one knows about. Things like Field maintenance, legal issues, Training dept, youth recruiting activities, safety enforcement to mention a few. A lot of out of pocket investment too. Thanks to Ken Hartburg for his generosity and tractor hauling from Loveland to cut the field grass. Thanks to our Instructors Eric Lemmon, Dmitriy Bastunskiy, Alan Nagl, Dave Hoag and Neil Schmoker. Thanks to Robert Emmer for always volunteering to help. Thanks to Ed Greeott for maintaining the indoor fly’s. Thanks to Ed Taylor for maintaining our membership criteria.

But most of all thanks to all of you and your families who make our club and our club’s activities what they are today, awesome.. Your involvement and generosity does not go unnoticed.

Thank-you,

Your LEAF Officials
